Beatification of the Venerable Servant of God Maria Teresa Casini

Beatification of the Venerable Servant of God Maria Teresa Casini
Foundress of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

On Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Cathedral of Frascati, His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Amato, SDB, representative of the Holy Father and Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, will preside over the Rite of Beatification of the Venerable Maria Teresa Casini.

The new Blessed was born in Frascati in 1864. A contemplative and apostolic soul who was favored by profound mystical experiences, she understood the plea of the Heart of Jesus to offer her life as an oblation of prayer and reparation to support priests. After her first experience of religious life with the Poor Clares of Rome, she founded the Institute of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1882, for the purpose of praying for the gift of holiness for priests, assisting them in their ministry and promoting new vocations. She died a holy death at Grottaferrata on April 3, 1937.

Her Cause for Beatification was entrusted to Fr. Luca M. De Rosa, OFM General Postulator, in 1997.
