Meeting of the Minister General’s Conference

On Saturday, January 10, 2015, a meeting of the Conference of Minister Generals of the First Franciscan Order (Friars Minor, Conventuals, Capuchins) and TOR was held at the General Curia of the Friars Minor Capuchin, together with the General Secretaries for Formation and Studies, besides those responsible for Communications of the General Curias of the various obediences.

The purpose of the meeting was to continue the joint reflection on the effect of the digital era on our life and mission, and in particular in the areas of formation and communication.

In the morning, Sr. Caterina Cangi°, a Salesian sister, presented a reflection on the theme, “The Challenge of the Means of Communication to Consecrated Life.”

In the afternoon, there was an extended dialogue and exchange of concerns, hopes, possibilities, limits and challenges of the digital age and the consequent cultural change in both permanent and initial formation, in face of a Franciscan formation that responds from positive and purposeful strategies to new opportunities for communication and connection. In order to form a human, Christian and Franciscan identity that seeks warm interpersonal relations that are key in fraternal life and our evangelizing mission.
