Feast Day of the PUA and the Grand Chancellor

The Feast Day of the PUA (Pontifical University, Antonianum) and of the Grand Chancellor (the OFM Minister General, Br. Michael A. Perry) was held on January 16th, 2017.

Taking place in the Aula Magna of the Antonianum, a full academic program had been drawn up to mark the event, under the chairmanship of Prof. Stefano Cavalli. Following a welcome from the PUA Rector, Prof. Mary Melone, the various speakers took the floor— Prof. Riccardo Burigana of the “San Bernardino” Institute for Ecumenical Studies spoke on “Retelling history in new ways: a reading and re-reading of the 16th century Reform”; Prof. Placido Sgroi of the Institute for Ecumenical Studies then addressed the topic of “Perennis reformatio: the Church of Justification and the Church of Mercy – towards an ecumenical koinonia; the Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala, Most. Rev. Antje Jackelén spoke on “What are the prospects for ecumenism following the Pope’s visit to Sweden?”; and Br. Michael A. Perry contributed concluding remarks and thanks.

The celebrations concluded with an afternoon performance of “Francis, dust of God”, by Gabriele Riccardo Tordoni, with music by Paolo Ceccarelli.
