The Formal Launch of the Order’s Website

Friars, members of the Press, and communication directors for Religious Orders gathered at the OFM General Curia on Friday afternoon, March 10th, at the invitation of the Minister General, Br. Michael Anthony Perry to formally launch the new website of the Order and to talk about the opportunities presented by new technologies.

In his talk, Br. Michael spoke about how the Franciscans desire above all else to share the Good News of the Gospel with all of humanity and that “the digital era challenges us and the Church to embark on a new journey.” He is optimistic that “the launching of a new digital platform will help support not only the work of the Order and the Church but will also make a unique contribution to the human quest for meaning, hope, and connectivity.”

Also present were Br. Alvin Te, Director of the Communications Office, who exhibited the new website and Matthew Harvey Sanders, of Longbeard Creative (our partner in this project) demonstrated existing technologies that could be employed to improve workflow efficiencies.  A Q&A ended the presentation which gave those in attendance plenty to think about.
