International Mariology Forum

The International Forum of Mariology began on May 7, 2015 at the Auditorium of the Pontifical University Antonianum with the theme “The Message of Fatima: Between Charism and Prophecy.”

Organized by the Pontifical International Marian Academy, the Forum began with the greeting of Sr. Mary Melone, Rector of the PUA. It continued with the opening speech of Card. Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, reports from Eloy Bueno de la Fuente (“A Theological Reading of the Message of Fatima”) and Fr. Vincenzo Battaglia (“The Mystery of God’s Love for the World in the Message of Fatima”). On May 8th, the day began with the report of the Rector of the Shrine of Fatima, Carlos Manuel Pedrosa Cabencinhas (“Pastoral Challenges and the Spirituality of Fatima”) and ended with a workshop and discussion of the topic.

On May 9th, the forum moved into the Basilica of St. Anthony at the Lateran for a Marian afternoon. This statue of the Virgin of Fatima was given primacy of place. There was a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Mgr. António dos Santos Marto, Bishop of Leiria-Fatima. We have now officially begun to prepare for the celebration of the 1st centenary of the apparitions of Fatima (2017).
