19 Apr Message of Solidarity for the Friars Living in Ecuador
My dear Brothers in Ecuador,
May the Lord give you his peace!
On behalf of all the friars of the Order, I simply want to express our fraternal solidarity with you at this time of suffering and distress, the result of the serious earthquake that struck your country just a few days ago.
We are united in spirit as we pray for those who have lost their lives because of this terrible tragedy, for those who have been injured, and for all those who have lost their loved ones, as well as their homes.
Likewise, we want to offer our support to you, dear brothers of the Province of St. Francis in Quito. We think especially of those who live in the areas most affected, and who carry out pastoral work there, those involved in the rescue operation, and your families. We hope that you can respond to this disaster as quickly as possible.
We would also like to assure you of our readiness to cooperate with you in concrete and effective ways that can be put at the service of those affected.
May the Crucified and Risen Lord sustain you and bless you, and may you be helped and accompanied by the the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and of our Seraphic Father St. Francis.
