Minister General’s call to prayer for all suffering peoples

A few days before the beginning of Holy Week, listening to the cry of suffering of the people in so many nations of the world, where the Franciscans of the Order of Friars Minor work, the Minister General, Br Massimo Fusarelli, launches an appeal for prayer and support for all people in difficulty.

We are aware of difficult social, political, and economic situations that afflict people from various parts of the world. Our friars are there and remain close to the people in many ways. Let us remember them and stay close to them in fraternity: our thoughts go to Haiti and Cuba, where poverty and insecurity prevail. We still look at Nicaragua, Central America and Mexico and Venezuela. We move to Asia, to Sri Lanka and Myanmar, not forgetting other countries. Syria and Lebanon are always in our thoughts, together with the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially in the Kivu region. We also do not forget Sudan and South Sudan, and other countries of this immense continent. We are friars in the world and for the world, in the Order and for the Order. While we remain close to our brothers in Ukraine and Russia, let us also remember many other situations this Easter.
