Servant of God: Juana de la Cruz

On Wednesday March 18, 2015, the Holy Father Francis met in private audience with his eminence, the Most Reverend Cardinal Angelo Amato, S.D.B., Prefect of the Congregation for the Cause of the Saints. During the meeting, the Pope authorized the Congregation to promulgate, among others, the decree regarding the heroic virtues of the Servant of God, Juana de la Cruz (Juana Vázquez Gutiérrez) a consecrated Religious of the Third Order of St. Francis, Abbess of the Convent of Santa Maria de la Cruz in Cubas of Madrid; born in Villa de Azaña today known as Numancia La Sagra (Spain) on May 3, 1481. She died in Cubas de La Sagra (Spain) on May 3, 1534.
