Spiritual Solidarity: a message to the victims of the earthquake in Central Italy

The Order of Friars Minor would like to convey a message to the victims of the earthquake which occurred in Central Italy.

With deep sorrow for what happened, the Friars Minor have prayed and are praying for all the victims: for those who have lost their lives, that the Lord of life grant them a share in his immortal life; for the wounded and for those who have lost loved ones, that they may feel the strengthening presence of the Risen Lord in this time of grief.

The earthquake also hit the Franciscan family who has lost a friend and brother in the person of Doctor Giampiero Fedeli, a member of the Secular Franciscan Order and a friend of the friars. He was the Chief Doctor of the Villa Luisa Nursing Home in Rome and was in Amatrice when he met “sister bodily death.”

The pain caused by the earthquake to many people can only be endured through human solidarity, believing in the certainty of the constant presence of God in our lives. The God of life, who does not will a premature and violent death, is close to all his children in all circumstances. Therefore, it is time to deepen our faith and our hope in Him who never abandons us.
