18 Jan THE PROVINCE OF SAINT CASIMIR IN LITHUANIA ELECTS A NEW PROVINCIAL
“I entrust myself to God to bless this path so that I may serve my brothers properly and justly. That He may allow me to continue living a simple, humble life – and at the same time knowing how to administer the province and listening to the brothers in Lithuania and their needs”. These are the first words of Br Evaldas Darulis, immediately after his election as Minister Provincial of the Province of St Casimir of Lithuania.
The 22 capitulars, gathered in Kretinga, Lithuania, from January 10-13, after electing Br Evaldas, also elected Br Andrius Nenėnas to the office of Vicar Provincial and as Definitors Br Tomas Žymantas, Br Andrius Dobrovolskas, Br Paulius Bytautas and Br Alvydas Virbalis.
The Lithuanian Province currently has 35 friars distributed in eight friaries, six in Lithuania, one in the United States and one in Toronto, Canada. The friars dedicate themselves to the pastoral service of four parishes, evangelisation through digital communications, education of young people and spiritual assistance to the Poor Clares. In addition to the services listed above, the friars are actively involved in charity by running a soup kitchen, helping people with addictions and marginalised groups in society.
