06 Dec The Vicar General visits Peru
From 29 November to 5 December 2021, Brother Isauro Ulises Covili Linfati, Vicar General, made a fraternal and pastoral visit to the Peruvian Provinces of the XII Apostles and Saint Francis Solano.
“I had a meeting with the Ministers Provincial and Definitors of both Provinces, with the formators, the friars of the Provinces and also with the temporarily professed. During the sessions, relevant issues were discussed and, listening carefully to their realities, I invited them to draw up an itinerary for the coming years to arrive at the union of the two Provinces.
I believe that the spirit is good for achieving this project,” Brother Isauro told us.
In addition to visiting the friars, Brother Isauro had meetings with the Poor Clares and the Franciscan Family of Peru. With the Poor Clares, he celebrated Mass with a reflection that aimed “to encourage the Poor Clares to become leaders in the development of their General Constitutions“. With the Franciscan Family, they discussed the Franciscan Centenaries that will take place in the next few years: 800 years of the Rule, Christmas at Greccio (2023), the Stigmata (2024), the Canticle of the Creatures (2026) and Francis’ Passover (2026)”.
Evaluating the Visit, Brother Isauro summed up by saying: “it was an intense week, with an excellent welcome from all the friars, a lot of listening and an attentive encouragement of Franciscan life“.
