Formation in Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue

The Fraternity offers its Course of Ongoing Formation in Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue every October. This two-week intensive program introduces participants to both the theory and practice of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue through a combination of classroom lectures and personal encounters with the Fraternity’s many dialogue partners. Visits to historic sites in Istanbul and Turkey are included.

You'll learn about

The historical, biblical and theological foundations of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, with special emphasis on the teachings of the Second Vatican Council.

The different types and methods of dialogue, which you will experience through concrete encounters with the Fraternity’s partners.

How Franciscans understand and engage in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue on the basis of their own theological and spiritual traditions.

You will learn in a multilingual context, with simultaneous translations of all lectures and discussions into English, French, Italian and Spanish.

Lecturers

The Course’s leaders, lecturers and guides come from a variety of church and faith traditions. All of them are recognized experts in their respective fields and possess extensive experience in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.
