04 Jun Br. Alejandro Adolfo Wiesse León ofm appointed Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Requena in Peru
The Holy Father Francis has appointed Br. Alejandro Adolfo Wiesse León ofm as Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Requena in Peru. Born on 11 October 1972 in Lima – Rímac, he entered the Order of Friars Minor in 1991. In January 1992 he made his novitiate and in 1998 his solemn profession. From 1998 to 2000 he was professor of Sacred Scripture at the San Pío X Major Seminary, professor at the Pedagogical Institute of Our Lady of Guadalupe and teacher at the Colegio Particular Ingeniería. In the parish he accompanied youth groups. In 2002 he was ordained to the priesthood. He has worked in schools, catechetical schools, radio and TV programmes.
In 2007 he began his studies at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum until 2010 and obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture in Jerusalem.
After finishing his studies in Jerusalem, he began his doctoral studies at the University of Comillas – Madrid. He returned to Peru on August 15, 2014, after completing his doctoral thesis. In the convent of Callao he was parish priest and master of temporary professed. He was elected Provincial Minister of the Missionary Province of St. Francis Solano in Peru in January 2017, until today. He continues to collaborate in teaching with the following institutions:
– Higher Institute of Theological Studies – ISET – JOHN XXIII.
– Pontifical and Civil Faculty of Theology of Lima.
– Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
