50 years of the Rectory of Holy Mary Mother of God

On the 30thAugust, 2025, the Franciscan presence in El Salvador celebrated the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Rectory of Holy Mary Mother of God, in Usulután. 

This presence is significant for the Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Central America and Panama: sinceits foundation, it has offered space as a house of formation, minor seminary, postulancy and novitiate. It currently serves as a retreat house, from where the localfraternity carries out its pastoral service, faithful to the charism of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi. 

With the motto "Half a century of Franciscan footprints with faith and hope", various activities have been carried out in recent months, culminating with aMass of thanksgiving presided over by Msgr. Romeo Tovar Astorga, OFM, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Santa Ana, El Salvador, and first Rector, accompanied by the friars of the Province and the local community.
