On Sunday the 27th October, in the monastery of "St Clare of Assisi" in Puerta Parada in Guatemala, the Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving was held for the 50th anniversary of the presence of the Poor Clares in Guatemala and the canonical approval of their community.
Clare, Light of Blessing for Guatemala' was a very important event, not only for the Poor Clares, but for the entire Guatemalan Church, because these sisters, with their hidden life in the cloister, accompany the Guatemalan people with prayer and sacrifice.
10 Sisters from Lorca (Murcia, Spain) who came with hope, love and the desire to sow in these lands the seed of our Mother, St. Clare of Assisi, under the leadership of Mother Berta de Jesús Meseguer, OSC.
Today this community has 29 sisters and two foundations from this Monastery: the Monastery of San Damián in Los Planes de Renderos (El Salvador) and the Monastery of Santa María de las Huertas in San Pedro las Huertas (Guatemala).
