2nd International Under Ten Chapter of Mats

In July 2001, the Order’s Under Ten friars gathered in Canindé, in the state of Ceará, in northeastern Brazil, hosted by the Province of Saint Anthony of Brazil. The meeting, convened by the Minister General Br Giacomo Bini, OFM, and the General Definitory, enabled participants to rediscover the essential values of religious vocation: contemplative and evangelizing life, following Christ poor and crucified, fraternal support, and the urgency of ongoing formation. 

At the end of the Chapter, the young friars addressed a letter to the Minister Provincials, the Custodes, and all the friars of the Order, expressing their commitment to build prophetic fraternities rooted among the poorest. They also invited the various Entities to promote the spiritual accompaniment of friars in the first years after their solemn profession and to foster new forms of contemplative and missionary fraternal life.
