Centenary of the Stigmata in Vietnam

On the occasion of the joyful commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the reception of the sacred stigmata by our Seraphic Father St. Francis in La Verna, the Province of St. Francis of Assisi in Vietnam celebrated the diaconal and priestly ordinations and solemn professions of 33 brothers.

On Sunday the 15th September, in the parish church of St. Francis of Assisi in Dakao (District 1), in the Archdiocese of Saigon, 9 priests and 8 deacons were ordained; amongst them, a priest who is preparing for missionary service in Russia and a deacon who is preparing for his mission in Turkey.

On Tuesday the 17th September, our Province solemnly commemorated the 800th anniversary of the Stigmata of St. Francis. On this auspicious occasion, 16 friars made their solemn profession in the Order of Friars Minor. This event is the fruit of God's abundant grace, the collaboration and support of many friars, the culmination of their formation and a testimony to the liveliness of Franciscan life in Vietnam.
