From the 18th -22nd, July, 2025, the Ordinary Custodial Chapter of the "Immaculate Conception" Custody of Venezuela was held. The fraternal meeting took place in an atmosphere of prayer, discernment and communion, under the motto: "Friars Minor, walking in hope."
During the Chapter, the new Custodial Government was elected for the triennium 2025–2028:
The Custody of the Immaculate Conception, inspired by the Holy Gospel and the Franciscan charism, continues its mission in Venezuelan lands animated by fraternity, service to the poorest, vocation promotion and evangelical hope.
The Chapter had a letter from the Zonal Definitor General, Br. César Külkamp, who on behalf of the Minister General expressed his fraternal communion and closeness to the brothers and sisters of Venezuela. In his message, he highlighted the admirable testimony of the friars who serve with dedication through parishes, radios, medical dispensaries, educational works and soup kitchens for the poor.
Br. Cesar also pointed out as a sign of hope that the Lord continues to give brothers to the Custody, who are in the different stages of formation. He also invited the Custody to draw closer to the Bolivarian Franciscan Conference for greater collaboration in formation and mission.
The friars concluded the Chapter by renewing their commitment to walk together as "Friars Minor" in the style of St. Francis, attentive to the signs of the Spirit in the midst of the current challenges of the country and of the Church.
We ask all the friras of the Order for their fraternal closeness and their prayers for this portion of the Franciscan Family.
