4th International Under Ten Chapter of Mats

From 2 to 10 June 2012, more than 140 friars gathered in Guadalajara and Mexico City for the fourth International Under Ten Chapter of Mats, on the theme “Aspicientes in Jesum”. The Minister General Br José Rodríguez Carballo, OFM, guided the central reflection of the Chapter, presenting the document “Stir into Flame the Gift of God that is within You”, a letter addressed to the young friars of the Order. 

The work focused on a rereading of the evangelical Beatitudes in relation to Franciscan identity, addressing themes such as the primacy of prayer and silence, fraternal life in a context marked by activism and virtual relationships, and the unity between vocation and mission. 

The Chapter concluded with a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, entrusting the fruits of the meeting to Marian intercession. The friars renewed their commitment to live the Gospel in the style of St. Francis, with creative fidelity and evangelical radicalism.
