Message of Solidarity in Prayer for the Friars living in the UK

05 June 2017
Rev. Bro. Patrick Lonsdale, OFM Custos Custody of the Immaculate Conception BVM 557/559 High Road Woodford Green (Essex) IG8 0RB England cc: M. R. F. Bro. Hugh McKenna, OFM Minister Provincial Adam and Eve’s 4 Merchants Quay Dublin 8 Ireland   Rome, June 4th, 2017 My dear Brother Patrick, my dear brothers of the Custody, May the Lord give you peace! I write to you in solidarity as you face the consequences of yet another senseless, violent attack against innocent civilians, which claimed the lives of seven and left scores injured. I cannot imagine the impact of the recent wave of violence that you and the people of the U.K. have experienced. No matter what grievances those who committed this atrocity might have had, such violent attacks can never be justified. God does not call any believer to undertake such violent actions. These deeds are perpetrated by those seeking only to sow the seeds of evil, fear, and destruction. May you know the peace of the Lord Jesus, and the solidarity your brothers of the Order of Friars Minor in this moment of national tragedy. We will continue to offer prayers for the innocent victims, their families, and for all those living in the U.K. May your faith in God and believe in the goodness of humanity allow you to overcome all sense of insecurity and fear. I will invite all brothers of the Order to remember you and the people of the U.K. in their prayers. Fraternally yours in St. Francis,   Bro. Michael A. Perry, OFM Minister General   Prot.
