On the 25th January, 2025, the National Fraternity “St. Benedict the African” of the Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) of Togo joyfully celebrated its Elective Chapter at the Fraternity of the OFM Friars of Adidogome, in Lomé. The elective session was chaired by the National Minister of Chad, Angel Gabriel Soulassengar, OFS, delegate of the Minister General Tibor Kauser, OFS, in the presence of Br. Serge-Armand Adjessi, OFM, delegate of the Conference of General Spiritual Assistants (CAS).

The Chapter was attended by 58 brothers and sisters, including 46 capitulars, 10 observers and 2 religious. René Komlan Gamélé D’Almeida, OFS has been elected as the new National Minister and International Councilor, according to the fraternity’s statutes. On the 26th January, the day of the inauguration of the new National Council, the new National Minister thanked his predecessor, Joseph Kosjo Fogan Adegnon, OFS, for his faithful, affectionate and tireless service to the national fraternity over the past 9 years and for his organization of the Chapter. Although it was a day full of "bureaucratic" commitments (presentation of reports and elections of the new Council), the capitulars enjoyed a very fruitful and festive occasion; Everyone went home happy, thanks to the collaborative spirit that characterized the fraternal meeting.

The Conference of General Spiritual Assistants is very grateful to Br. Serge-Armand Adjessi, OFM, for his readiness and willingness to accept the request to testify to the Chapter on behalf of the General Conference, despite his pastoral commitments.

May the Lord continue to bless his generosity in sharing his time with the OFS.
