On Wednesday 8 July 2026, the book Bla Sold u Bla Qorq (“Without a coin and without sandals”), written in Maltese by Br Dionysius Mintoff, OFM - friar of the Province of St. Paul the Apostle - was officially launched at the Auditorium of the Society of Christian Doctrine General House in Blata l-Bajda. Published by Preca Publications, the book was released to mark the 8th Centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.
During the launch, Br Dionysius - born on 1 April 1931 and entered the Order on 8 April 1947 - reflected on the Christian vocation to become an instrument of peace among all others, following the example of Saint Francis of Assisi. He emphasised that true peace begins in the heart and must be expressed through acts of love, especially towards those who are most in need.
The evening also included the reading of several passages from Br Dionysius’ writings in an atmosphere of prayer and reflection.
The Superior General of the Society of Christian Doctrine in Malta concluded the event with a closing message, expressing the hope that this publication would continue to inspire each of us on our journey towards holiness. He remarked that today’s world is in great need of holy men and women who are willing to place themselves at the service of others.
Bla Sold u Bla Qorq offers readers a collection of reflections and episodes from the life of Saint Francis and the wider Franciscan family for each day of the year. By accompanying this poor man of Assisi on this spiritual journey, readers are encouraged to deepen their love for Jesus through the imitation of the saint.
The launch was also attended by Br. Martin Coleiro, OFM as Definitor representing the Minister Provincial and other brothers of the Province of St. Paul the Apostle.
