Solemn Profession in the Missionary Province of St. Francis Solanus of Peru

Two friars consecrate their lives to the service of the Order

19 August 2026

On the 16th August, 2026, at the fiary of Our Lady of the Angels of  Los Descalzos, in Lima, our friars Br. Luis Rafael Caycho Zelada, OFM, and Br. Hassler Osmín Pineda González, OFM, made their Solemn Profession in the Missionary Province of St. Francis Solano of Peru.

The Mass was presided over by the Provincial Minister, Br. David Tello Labajos, OFM, and was attended by brothers from the Franciscan provinces in Peru, relatives of the professed, religious and numerous faithful who gathered to accompany our brothers in this fundamental moment of their vocational journey.

In the celebration, Br. Luis and Br. Hassler pronounced their Solemn Profession, giving themselves definitively to God to live the Gospel according to the way of life of St. Francis of Assisi, as Friars Minor, in fraternity and at the service of the Church and the Order.

During his reflection, Br. David Tello Labajos, OFM, invited the friars to look to St. Francis as a model of a life given entirely to Christ. He especially exhorted them to embrace the poor and crucified Christ with confidence, and to always cultivate prayer, minority, and fraternity. He also reminded them that they will not walk alone, since they have the help and prayer of all their brothers.

Br. Luis and Br. Hassler entered the Order in 2019, in the Missionary Province of St. Francis Solano of Peru. In 2020 they carried out the novitiate at the Blessed Mary Allegra Convent, in Moche – Trujillo. Later they continued their formation process at the Convent of Santa María de los Ángeles – Los Descalzos, in Lima. Since 2022, Fr. Hassler continued his studies at the Convent of St. Saviour, in Jerusalem.

The journey travelled by both friars finds in this Solemn Profession a culminating moment and, at the same time, the beginning of a new stage of dedication and service. His consecration reminds the whole fraternity that the Franciscan vocation is renewed every day in fidelity to the Gospel, in fraternal life, in prayer and in service to others.

The celebration was also an occasion to thank God for the gift of these two vocations and for all the people who have accompanied them during these years of formation. The presence of the friars, relatives, religious and faithful expressed the joy of the whole Church for those who offer their lives to the Lord.

Let us ask Almighty God to continue to strengthen Br. Luis and Br. Hassler in their vocation, to keep them faithful to the consecration they have made and that, following the example of St. Francis, they may live with joy and perseverance their dedication to Christ, to fraternity and to the service of the Church. Let us also entrust to our prayers the perseverance of our brothers and the emergence of new vocations for our Order and our Province.
