In the context of the celebrations for the eighth centenary of the Stigmata of St. Francis, from the 21st to 23rd November in Falconara Marittima, Italy, the international conference "The image of the Stigmata. Incarnation and representation of faith between figurative and textual culture". The event is hosted at the headquarters of the historical-Franciscan and Picene Library of the city and is organized by the Archivial Pinacoteca Library of the Order of Friars Minor of the Marche, directed by Fr. Lorenzo Turchi OFM, in collaboration with the Pontifical University Antonianum, the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the Department of Ancient and Modern Civilizations of the University of Messina.
The organizers want to promote a multidisciplinary meeting to investigate the relationship established between iconographic representations and textual traditions that conveyed the image of the Stigmata between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries. The occasion is also proposed as a moment of shared reflection on themes, research approaches and methodologies of investigation.
