The Sanctuary of Poggio Bustone reopened to the faithful

Rieti (Italy), Franciscan place of forgiveness and grace

25 July 2025

On the 24th July, 2025 at 11.30 a.m., the Franciscan Shrine of Poggio Bustone, in the Rieti Valley (RI - Italy) was reopened and returned to the faithful and visitors. The works had become necessary due to the serious earthquake that struck central Italy in 2016.

The presence of the Minister General, Br. Massimo Fusarelli, the Minister Provincial, Br. Luciano de Giusti, together with the Guardians of the shrines of the Valley and other friars, was enriched by that of the technicians who carried out the interventions and the Civil and Military Authorities of the place.

For the territory it is certainly a sign of hope, as well as for the Province of St. Bonaventure and for the entire Franciscan Family who have been pilgrims to this place of Pardon and Grace for centuries.
