The Franciscan Youth Weekend in Sharhorod (26th – 28th September) brought together 90 young people from different fraternities of the OFM Friars of the Province of St. Michael the Archangel in Ukraine.
The theme of the meeting, "Community", was associated with the beginning of the formative year. For three days, the young people prayed together, listened to lectures, created several posters on the theme "Who am I in the community", spent cheerful evenings and, most importantly, lived the time in the Franciscan spirit of unity and fraternity.
The young people also visited the cemetery and prayed at the graves of the friars and soldiers who fell in the war that unfortunately still continues.
A great joy for those present was the visit of an unexpected guest, the Definitor General Br. Konrad Cholewa OFM, who at that time was visiting the Ukrainian Province of St. Michael the Archangel: thanks go to him for his inspiring words and his fraternal blessing.
We thank the Lord for the gift of these young people, ready to follow simplicity and dedication to God following the example of St. Francis.
