The Minister General, Br. Massimo Fusarelli, together with the General Definitor, Br. Konrad Cholewa, visited the Friars of the Province of Saint Francis of Assisi in Poland from 26 June to 1 July 2024. The visit of the 121st successor of the Poverello (Poor man) of Assisi began in the former Poor Clares Monastry in Kalisz, and then continued, accompanied by the Provincial Minister, Br. Leonard Bielecki, the Vicar, Br. Franciszek Chodkowski, and the Government, to the religious houses in Jarocin, Wschowa, and Poznań.
The following day, 27 June, the friars serving in the fraternities of Pakość, Brodnica, Olsztyn and Kadyny were visited. The following day, the course was set in the region of Pomerania, where the Minister General met the communities of the convents of Gdańsk, Hel and Wejherowo.
On 29 June, in Toruń, on the Solemnity of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the Provincial Chapter of Mats was opened with a Liturgy of the Mass presided over by Br. Massimo. The words were chosen as its theme: “With the Rule I am satisfied”.
On 1 July, the Minister General, having concluded his meetings with the friars of the Polish Provinces, went to visit the communities in Croatia. On the same day, at the friary in Wejherowo, as part of the Chapter, the work of the various commissions began, preparing concrete proposals and projects for the Provincial Chapter which will be held next year.
