03 November 2025

On Sunday, the 26th October, the XVI Franciscan Youth Meeting was held at the facilities of the Don Bosco Multigymnasium, Soyapango, San Salvador, El Salvador. Young people from all the Franciscan presences of the town participated, bringing together more than 1000 people under the motto "Franciscans of hope, guardians of creation".

The organizers were the friars of the parish "Our Lady of Guadalupe" of Soyapango, together with the Franciscan fraternity. It was a morning of joy in which the Eucharist was celebrated presided over by the Minister Provincial Br. Edgardo Manuel Pérez Tejeira, OFM, of the Franciscan Province "Our Lady of Guadalupe" in Central America and the Caribbean, accompanied by the friars of the presences of the region. The meeting was characterized by moments of prayer, reflection and fraternal sharing between friars and young people. The topics presented concerned the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the composition of the Canticle of the Creatures by St. Francis of Assisi and the Holy Year of Hope.

This space has been created by the friars of El Salvador for 16 years, with the aim of introducing young people to the charism and spirituality of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi.
