Br. Bruno Varriano appointed auxiliary Bishop of Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem

Today, January 9, the Holy Father appointed Br. Bruno Varriano Auxiliary Bishop of the Patriarchal Diocese of Jerusalem of the Latins, assigning him the titular see of Astigi.

Of Brazilian origin, Br. Bruno Varriano was born in São Paulo in 1971. He joined the Custody of the Holy Land in 1996. He is a priest and a psychotherapist, specializing in clinical psychology. As a clinical psychologist he worked in the French Hospital in Jerusalem. He holds a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical Antonianum University in Rome and a Diploma in Biblical Formation from the SBF. He teaches General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Pedagogy and Spiritual Theology at the Studium Theologicum Jerosolimitanum. 

He has been serving as patriarchal vicar in the island of Cyprus since 2022.
