From the 18th to the 22nd September, at the Szenkút Sanctuary in Budapest, Hungary, the assembly of the Transalpine Franciscan Conference (COTAF) was held, which elected Br. Fritz Wenigwieser as new president and Br. Christoph-Maria Hörtner as vice-president.
The assembly was attended by Br. Albert Schmucki, General Definitor, together with the Provincial Ministers of the Conference: Br. Theo van Adrichem (Holy Martyrs of Gorkum, Netherlands), Br. Michel Laloux (Blessed Duns Scotus, France and Belgium), Br. Markus Fuhrmann (St. Elizabeth, Germany), Br. Piusz Berhidai (Our Lady of the Hungarians, Hungary), Br. Erik Urban (St. Stephen King of Transylvania, Romania) and Br. Fritz Wenigwieser himself (St. Leopold , Austria and Italy). Also participating were Br. Christoph-Maria Hörtner, Custos of the Dependent Custody of Christ the King (Switzerland), the secretary fr. Thomas Abrell and fr. Darius Lebok, Secretary for Formation and Studies.
The meeting served to share information and experiences of the Entities involved, with an eye towards the next scheduled events. Amongst these, the meeting of the friars under 10, scheduled for summer 2024, the meeting with the General Definitory (18-22 March 2024 in Ohrbeck, Germany), the Chapter of the Mats (for the Provinces: spring 2024; for the Conference: autumn 2024; worldwide: June 2025) and of the COTAF Summer Academy in Caldaro (Italy).
