The friars of the Franciscan Province of St Elizabeth in Germany gathered in Provincial Chapter in Ohrbeck and elected Br Markus Fuhrmann as new Provincial and Br Stefan Federbusch as Vicar Provincial. Br Thomas Abrell, Br Thomas Ferencik, Br Martin Lütticke and Br Maximilian Wagner were elected to the Definitory. Br Markus was born on 9 August 1971 in Hannover, capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. He took his first vows in 1998, his solemn vows in 2003 and was ordained a priest on 7 May 2005. In the Province, he did pastoral service to the homeless in Cologne and was Vicar Provincial until the day of his election. The Chapter consists of two sessions - the first from 14 to 17 March and the latter from 6 to 10 June - and is presided over by the Visitator General, Br Thomas Hrastnik, of the Franciscan Province of St Leopold in Austria.
