Lomé, 8 July 2022 - The friars of the Franciscan Province of the Incarnate Word, gathered in Chapter in Lomé, Togo, re-elected Br Virgil Agbessi Provincial and Br Nicodème Kolani new Vicar Provincial for the next three years. The following were elected to the office of Definitors: Br Léonard Kombate, Br Alexis Messan, Br Prière Auguste Kacou and Br André Monika. Br Virgil was born in Kandi, Benin, on 24 December 1964, took his first vows in 1999, his solemn vows in 2005 and was ordained a priest on 18 August 2005. The Province of the Incarnate Word, based in Lomé, Togo, includes Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso and Ghana. The Chapter, which began last Monday, 4 July and ended on Saturday, was presided over by Br. Marcel Thikez, Visitator General of the Congo Province of St. Benedict the African.
