On the third centenary of the apparition of the Virgin of Aparecida, the Conference of the Franciscan Family of Brazil (CFFB) celebrates its 50 years of existence with a
Chapter of Mats. It will be a grand event. From the 3 to 6 August 2017, the Friars of the First Order, the TOR, the Poor Clares, the Brothers of the SFO and Youth-Fra and devotees of Francis and Clare will gather in Aparecida.
“In this
Chapter of Mats”, said its President, Fr. Ederson Queiroz, OFMCap., “the Franciscan Family of Brazil, taking something from the treasure of the Franciscan Spirituality celebrates the God of life, drawing on the experience of Fraternity.”
“To bring to the World the Mercy of God” will be the theme of the Chapter of Mats. Its motto is: “
We need to return to Assisi!” As Francis had there a deep intuition: “
you must bring all to paradise.”
“Francis wanted to create
paradises”, said the President, “in people's lives, in relationships among human beings, among religions. It wanted to create
paradises that could become experiences of fraternity, respect and otherness.”
