Foundation of Notre Dame d'Afrique gathered in Chapter

21 December 2017
From December 12-15, 2017, the Foundation of Notre Dame d'Afrique, a Custody that is under the care of the Minister General and the General Definitory, gathered in Chapter. The meeting took place at St. Claire Friary, the first Franciscan center in Djiri, Republic of Congo. 14 Solemnly professed friars, 3 friars in Simple profession, and 1 novice participated. Much attention was given to analyzing the situation of the Foundation, its strengths but also the challenges it faces. The Chapter also spent time preparing a Plan of Action or Orientation for the coming three years (2018-21), giving special attention to strengthen the life of prayer and fraternity; renewing energy and updating methods for carrying forward a new work in evangelizing, including possible expansion of educational programs as a means for evangelizing the youth; and the need to prepare for the economic stability of each of the fraternities and also for the Foundation. Under the direction of the Minister General, Br. Michael Anthony Perry, and the Definitor General for Africa, Br. Nicodème Kibuzehose, the Chapter was able to establish a new government that will help the Foundation achieve the goals that the friars have planned to accomplish.
