Fraternal visit to the Province of the Holy Cross - Brazil

While in Brazil, Br. Michael Anthony Perry, ofm, made a fraternal visit to the Province of the Holy Cross, from 9 to 14 June. He was accompanied by Br. Valmir Ramos, ofm, Definitor for Latin America. They arrived on 8 June in Belo Horizonte where the Provincial Curia is located. Br. Michael was received by Br. Hilton Faria de Souza and the friars of the local fraternity including some elderly friars for a fraternity party. On the 10th he met the Under 10 friars with whom he talked, listened, and spoke about the need to always be open to accompaniment and to create spaces for internal and external dialogue. On 11 June, Br. Michael visited the novitiate of the Province, in which the novices of the Province of St. Francis and those of the Custody of St. Benedict of Amazonia also participate. There he met the friars of ​​the northern State of Minas Gerais. In the morning of the 12th, Br. Michael visited and celebrated the Eucharist in the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Addolorata on the “Serra da Piedade” Mountain, at the very summit. There he held a meeting with the guardians of the Province and listened to their challenges in caring for the fraternities. On the evening of the 12th, the Minister General took part in a meeting in Belo Horizonte with members of the Islamic community and other religions to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the meeting of St. Francis with the Sultan. The 13 June was reserved for a meeting, in Divinopolis, with the majority of the friars of the Province who are in the central and southern part of the State and then with the friars and the students of the various stages of Formation. In the evening, Br. Michael presided over the solemn celebration of St. Anthony with the church full of the faithful.
