Our General Secretariat for Franciscan Missions has offices in Burlington Wisconsin, USA (Catholic Missionary Work - Franciscan Missions). On the 18 and 19 of September the Board of Directors met for their annual face-to-face meeting - they meet by Zoom at other times during the year to approve projects and disbursements, a protocol that has been regularized during our Covid experience.
These September dates were filled with opportunities to come to know the good work being done by our Franciscan Missionaries throughout the world. There was also work to be done on the bylaws in view of the transformation taking place in six of our seven US provinces.
Currently the ten-member board is made up of representatives of the US Provinces of the Friars Minor and three ex-ufficio members from the OFM General Curia in Rome. Brother Andrew Brophy, the director of GSFM, also joins us and, depending on the topics, other staff and volunteers can be at the meeting either in person or by Zoom, to provide us with pertinent information.
Living together gave us a chance to get to know one another better, to ask questions about the good work being done by our Franciscans, to pray together and to be "brothers".
