Greccio opens the way towards the Five Franciscan Centenaries

On 29 November 2021, the feast of All Saints of the Franciscan Order, the journey towards the five Franciscan Centenaries to be celebrated in the coming years, began in Greccio. Br Amando Trujillo Cano, Minister General of the Third Order Regular, referred to the letter sent on behalf of all the Ministers General of the Franciscan Family. “The next few years will be marked by the memory of important moments in the life of St Francis in his last years. In particular, from 2023 to 2026, we will remember what we like to call a single Franciscan Centenary, which, surrounding the Holy Year of 2025, will include the 800th anniversary of the Rule, Christmas at Greccio (2023), the Stigmata (2024), the Canticle of the Creatures (2026) and the Passover of Francis (2026)”. The celebrations were opened in Greccio by Br Joaquin Echeverry and Br Konrad G. Cholewa, OFM General Definitors, Br Francesco Piloni, Provincial of Umbria, Br Livio Crisci, Provincial of Tuscany and Br Luciano De Giusti, Provincial of Lazio-Abruzzo. The President of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, was present with the bishops of Assisi, Rieti and Arezzo.
