On the upcoming Christmas festivities, in the morning of 18 December 2022, the Minister General, Br Massimo Fusarelli, celebrated Mass in the Prison of Latina, Italy. Welcoming the Minister was the Chaplain of the prison, Br Stefano Marsili, of the Province of St Bonaventure, Italy, and the volunteers who animated the Mass.
During the homily, the Minister interacted with the inmates, asking questions about the meaning of Christmas. The guests replied that Christmas is rebirth, happiness, freedom, and love. Starting from these answers and the readings of the Fourth Sunday of Advent, Br Massimo invited those present to look at the dream of St Joseph. According to the Scriptures, it was in the dream that God intervened in human history. Finally, he urged those present to place their dreams on the altar and allow God to intervene.
At the end of the celebration, the Minister shared with those present the experience of his trip to Ukraine, the encounters he had with the brothers, with the women and men who were victims of the war. And he thanked the prisoners for their cash offering, which will be used to alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian people.
