With God’s blessing, our Province of SS. Peter and Paul of Michoacán experienced a moment of grace by celebrating the Intermediate Chapter 2026, a propitious time to renew our way of following Christ, in the style of Seraphic Father Francis.
On the 6th July, 2026, the Chapter opened with the Mass in the Basilica of Santa María de El Pueblito, in Pueblito, Querétaro. At the end of the Mass, we renewed the patronage that the Blessed Virgin Mary has over our Province and its Chapters. Then the Chapter friars moved to the Chapter House, "Blessed Brother Bartolomé Laurel and Brother Luis de San Francisco" in Celaya, Guanajuato.
The Chapter took place in an atmosphere of prayer, listening and fraternity. Five initiatives were approved to animate the life of prayer, fraternity, minority, formation, and studies. Two decrees were approved. At the Chapter, we received a letter from the Minister Provincial of the Franciscan Province of St Francis and St James of Jalisco, Br. Gabriel Cardiel, who encouraged us to live this moment of grace by listening to God's will. This fraternal gesture leads us to make a historical memory of the filial relationship that must exist in these two Provinces, since the Province of Jalisco was born from its mother Province of Michoacán.
Finally, on July 10, the last day of the Chapter, the election of the Provincial Definitors was held, for the period 2026-2029, the friars elected were the following: Br. Jesús Alejandro Juárez Martínez, Br. Juan Santos García, Br. Eleazar Arteaga Chavero, Br. Salvador Parra Pérez, Br. Julio César Negrete Valle.
We conclude with the dissolution of the Chapter by the president Br. Enrique Muñoz Gutiérrez and the signing of the minutes of the Chapter. Finally, we close this moment of grace and reflection with the Eucharist, the centre of our life and the culmination of all our evangelising activity.
To the Good and Great God, we thank You for so many blessings poured out upon us during these days.
Br. Rodrigo Martín Rojas Cerroblanco, OFM, Provincial Chronicler
