Meeting of the Guardians of Sicily and Malta

Provinces of the “Most Holy Name of Jesus” of Sicily and “St. Paul the Apostle” of Malta

01 February 2024

From the 29th to the 31st January 2024, the Guardians/Delegates of the Provinces of the “Most Holy Name of Jesus” in Sicily and “St. Paul the Apostle” of Malta, gathered in Ispica (Ragusa, Italy), at the friary of Our Lady of Jesus, to experience times of formation and discussion on the service entrusted to them.

The formation period was led by Br Paolo Fantaccini of the Province of Tuscany, who dealt with the theme of authority according to Franciscan tradition, and was also led by Br Gianni Notari SJ, who spoke about the importance of taking care of the contexts in which the fraternities are inserted, in order to help people grasp the dimension of its meaning.

In addition to the various moments of formation and discussion, the friars also experienced moments of fraternal sharing and a cultural visit to the city of Syracuse.

On the last day, the Guardians/Delegates divided into two groups met with their respective Ministers Provincial, in order to share what they had experienced in these recent days and to think about the path of their own provincial reality.

This experience was an opportunity to create relationships and enhance collaboration in some areas of our life and mission.
