Msgr. Zbigniew Tadeusz Kusy, OFM, has returned to the Father's House

On the 31st March, 2024, on the Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord, in Bangoro, Central African Republic, our brother, Bishop Zbigniew Tadeusz Kusy OFM, died. He was of Polish origin, he lived as a missionary in Africa. He was 72 years old, 54 years in the Order, 47 years of priesthood, 9 years in the Diocese.

Monsignor Tadeusz made his first religious profession in the Order of Friars Minor on the 30th August 1970. Having completed his philosophical and theological studies in the Seminary of Friars Minor in Katowice, he was ordained a priest on the 15th April 1976. In 1979 he was sent as a missionary in Zaire. Duirng the years 1986-1989 he studied at the Institute of Religions and Theology in Paris. In 1989 he returned to Africa, to the Central African Republic. In addition to his pastoral work, he was a formator of young friars in Bimbo in the Archdiocese of Bangui.

On the 31st May 2014 he was appointed coadjutor Bishop of Kaga-Bandoro by Pope Francis, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 15th August from the hands of the Archbishop and future Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangui, co-consecrators Albert Vanbuel, Bishop of Kaga-Bandoro Bandoro, and Stanislas Lukumwena Lumbala, Bishop Emeritus of Kole.

On the 27th September 2015, following the acceptance of the resignation of Bishop Albert Vanbuel, he succeeded him in that position. On the 31st March, 2024 he died in Africa due to malaria.
