New Government of the Custody of St. Benedict of the Amazon

The Custody of St. Benedict of Amazonia, Brazil, has a new government that took office on the 4th September 2026, and will serve for the next three years.

After the spiritual exercises of the Custody, the friars welcomed the Definitor General, Br. César Külkamp, who read the Decree of appointment of the new Government, composed of:

• Br. Wanderley Gomes De Figueiredo, OFM, of the Autonomous Custody “Our Lady of the Seven Joys” (Brazil): Custos;
• Fr. Valcy de Assunção Pinto, OFM: Vicar;
• Fr. Gregory (Gregory Robert) Joeright, OFM and Fr. João Messias Da Silva Sousa, OFM, Councillors.

The assembly welcomed this appointment with serenity, seeing the Custody’s future path, which lives in a very important missionary territory and is a path of renewal that continues with the help of the Order.
