PUA, Study Conference “Modified States of Consciousness and Mystical Phenomena”

On the 12th September, 2026, at the Pontifical Antonianum University in Rome, the study conference "The modified states of consciousness and mystical phenomena" will be held, organised by Lanthanum - Emidio Alessandrini - APS ETS together with the Pontifical Antonianum University. 

The event, born from the desire to collect the intellectual and spiritual legacy of Father Emidio Alessandrini OFM and to continue the deepening of themes particularly dear to him, represents an important opportunity for interdisciplinary comparison between science, philosophy, and theology on the modified states of consciousness, and is aimed both at experts in the field and at the curious and passionate about the subject. 

By investigating complex phenomena such as mystical experiences, EPM and emerging experiences after the loss of a loved one, the goal is to offer a space for serious and open discussion between scientific research and the spiritual dimension, also leaving room for questions from participants in person and online. 

The conference will be held on the 12th September 2026 , starting at 9:00 a.m. and can be followed in two ways: 

• in presence: the event will take place at the headquarters of the Pontifical University Antonianum at 124/A Merulana Street in Rome.
