On the 1st October in Castel Gandolfo (RM) Pope Leo XIV will open the conference "Raising Hope", an event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the encyclical Laudato Si' and to give new impetus to the most effective actions for the defense of the Common Home and trace a path towards the future.
The initiative is promoted by the Laudato Si' Movement and the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and will take place from 1st to 3rd October at the new Laudato Si' Village of Castel Gandolfo, inaugurated by the Pontiff himself on the 5th September.
The organizers write on the event website: "The Encyclical Laudato Si' recognizes that we are fighting in a thousand ways to ensure the protection of the home we share. Our efforts have paid off, but we are only at the beginning. Environmental disasters such as floods, storms, heat waves, and droughts are causing further suffering. We are committed to doing more now, especially in this extraordinary year, which marks the tenth anniversary of Laudato Si' and the Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as the year of the Catholic Jubilee."
For three days, leaders from the worlds of faith, movement, science, and politics will reflect on the impact of Laudato Si' and the most effective actions that can be taken right now.
Amongst the speakers there will also be Card. Jaime Spengler, OFM, President of the Bishops' Conference of Brazil and President of the Latin American Episcopal Council, and Tomás Insua, Founder and former Executive Director of the Laudato Si' Movement and member of the JPIC Animation Committee of the OFM.
