The death of Br. Francisco Morales Valerio, OFM

On the 23rd December, our brother Br. Francisco Morales Valerio, OFM, of the Province of the Holy Gospel was called to the Father's house; he lived in the city of San Pedro, Cholula, Mexico.  

Born on the 26th September, 1937 in Mexico City, he was clothed in the Franciscan habit on the 2nd February, 1954; He made his first profession on the 2nd February 1955, his solemn profession on the 4th October 1958 and was ordained a priest on the 22nd  June 1964. He was Minister Provincial of the Province of the Holy Gospel from 2008 to 2014. In 1965 he began his studies at the Catholic University of America, where he received his doctorate in philosophy with a specialization in history (15th May, 1971). 

For 20 years he was a researcher and member of the Academy of American Franciscan History in Washington; he was also a professor at the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome (1989-1994). 

Returning to his Province, he dedicated himself to collecting historical documents in various friary of the Province to preserve them in what is now the Franciscan Library, administratively supported by the University of the Americas, Puebla, and the Franciscan Historical Archive (since 2008), at the service of the national and international academic community.
