The Franciscans of Mexico Prepare to Celebrate 5th centenary

In preparation for the celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the arrival of the Franciscan movement in Mexico (2024), represented in the so-called "Twelve Franciscan Apostles" (1524), the five Franciscan Provinces of Mexico, in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Queretaro and the Colegio de Jalisco, hosted the Second Congress of Franciscan History from March 14-16, 2017. On this occasion, the Province of Saints Francis and James, headquartered in Zapopan, organized the event with the them “Expansion of the Franciscans in Northern and Western Mexico.” The plan is to organize a series of conferences every two years, focusing on themes depending on the region where the event will take place. The Province of Saints Peter and Paul of Michoacán hosted in 2015. The 3rd Congress of Franciscan History in 2019 will be organized by the Province of St. Philip of Jesus in Southern Mexico.
