The "Piccolo Coro" (Little Choir) of the Antoniano of Bologna

15 February 2017
The Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” directed by Sabrina Simoni, is the most visible part of the Antoniano of Bologna and it is an expression of the values of this institution. The Piccolo Coro is an opportunity to talk about all the typical values of the Franciscan world; The Piccolo Coro has a heart: taking care of others, singing good words to help people feel how it might be nice to share the way of life and the way of living of Francis of Assisi. The “Little Choir” was founded in 1963, at the behest of the Friars, today became the clearest expression of the message of Peace, which permeates every action inside of the Antoniano. The Franciscan Friars had the intuition of "nurturing the music" and the "Little Choir", which became a school: a school of life, an example for many other choirs in Italy and worldwide, having a musical repertoire dedicated to children (UNESCO included it in the World heritage for a culture of peace). In fact, it establishes cohesion among people less fortunate: they have many projects of solidarity that otherwise would not be possible without the Piccolo Coro. At the end of last year, the children of the Piccolo Coro and their director, Sabrina Simoni, had an exciting new adventure for the second consecutive year the choir of “voci bianche” of the Antoniano traveled to China for a wonderful tour, with 8 performances between 31 December 2016 and 7 January 2017. Il Piccolo Coro opened the third evening of the Festival of Sanremo this year. To know the Piccolo Coro better: www.zecchinodoro.org and www.antoniano.it
