On the 11th and 12th December Br. Konrad Cholewa, the General Definitor for SLAN Conference, concluded his two days visit in Ukraine which were marked by rich and important meetings. Apart from meeting the Guardians of the Province of St. Michael the Archangel and participating at the Provincial Definitory, together with the Minister Provincial Br. Benedict Sviderskyy, Br. Konrad had an interview with the Archbishop of Leopoli, Mieczysław Mokrzycki.
The meeting which took place at the Archbishop’s curia was an important occasion for discussing on some aspects of collaboration among the friars of the Province and the Archdiocese of Leopoli. The three Religious underlined the importance of uniting together the forces in order to face post war challenges so as to continue carrying out the mission and evangelization in the territory.
During the visit, Br. Konrad presented the Order’s vision and development of the Friars Minors at the global level as inspired by the recent letter of the Minister General, Br Massimo Fusarelli, intitled “Brothers and Minors today”. The General Definitor underlined the importance of remaining faithful to the Franciscan charism even in the context that characterized by profound social and cultural transformation.
On the second day of his visit Br. Konrad participated at the Provincial Definitory meeting. He offered his valuable contribution and shared his ideas and visions that can help in supporting the Ukrainian friars in this period of war. His presence in Ukraine was a tangible sign of the Order’s closeness to the friars of the Province of St. Michael the Archangel who are committed in carrying out the mission and evangelization even in the circumstances that are difficult.
