The Visit of the General Minister to the Franciscan Province of St. Jerome in Croatia

The General Minister visited the Franciscan Province of St. Jerome in Croatia from the 15th to the 18th of October 2015. His visit started in Spalato, where he visited with Br. Ivan Sesar, General Definitor, Br. Andrija Bilokapić, Provincial Minister, Br. Tomislav Šanko, Provincial Secretary and the fraternity of St. Anthony of Padua friary. That same afternoon, he visited the Provincial Curia in Zara. The following day, he met with the friars of the Province. The gathering started at 9:30am at St. Francis Friary in Zara, the oldest Franciscan friary outside of Italy. There were 26 friars present who discussed the “future of the Province of St. Jerome” openly and fraternally. Br. Ivan Sesar was the moderator of the meeting as well as the presider at Mass which was concelebrated by the General Minister, Provincial Minister with all the friars present. The General Minister in his homily urged the friars not to be afraid to make decisions eventhough they may be difficult as long as they are adhering to God and to His will. The following day, Br. Michael continued his visit and went to the southern part of the Province. The gathering in Dubrovnik was conducted the same way as the previous day. In the afternoon, the General Minister, the General Definitor and the General Delage for Interprovincial Collaboration met with the members of the administration of the Province of St. Jerome to outline some ideas for the next Provincial Chapter which will be celebrated right after Easter of next year.
