On the 4th October 2023, in the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Bogota, Colombia, a tribute was celebrated for the victims of the armed conflict in Colombia within the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in commemoration of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Mass was presided over by br Franklin Buitrago Rojas, OP, who in his homily stressed the importance of following the example of St. Francis of Assisi, who dedicated his life to the search for peace and reconciliation.
This celebration has taken on a special character as it has become a tribute to the victims of the prolonged armed conflict that has affected our country for decades.
The ceremony was attended by survivors and relatives of the victims of the armed conflict, as well as clerics, representatives of human rights organizations, military personnel and the Police Force.
The church choir sang hymns of peace and unity, creating an atmosphere of reflection and spirituality. This moving event reminds us of the importance of working together as a society to build a country where peace and reconciliation are a reality for all.
The Church, in her commitment to justice and peace, will continue to be a beacon of hope in the search for a better future for Colombia and its people.
